Shahi Tukray- My Rendition :)

A very popular south-east Asian dessert is Shahi Tukray, which literally means ‘Royal Pieces’. I have improvised on this old recipe and given it a more aesthetically pleasing look. I hope you guys will like my version of this classic. I am calling it ‘The Royal Hearts’ :)

Ingredients:

Bread slices 12
Milk 1 litre
Sugar 3/4 cup
Custard powder 2tbsp
Almonds 1 cup
Resins 1/2 cup
Pistachios 1/2 cup
Butter for frying

Method:

Cut the bread slices into heart shapes with the help of a cookie cutter. Shallow fry these hearts in butter on medium flame in a pan.
Chop the almonds, pistachios and resins finely, mix together and put aside.
Heat milk in a pot, on a medium flame, to boil and keep stirring in between. Add the sugar and mix well.
Dissolve custard powder in half a cup of milk and pour it in the hot milk while stirring constantly. Cook it for another 5 minutes.
In your serving dish, set the fried pieces of bread, put the chopped dried fruits on the slices and put another piece of bread on it, like a sandwich.

Press the sandwiches together a little so they won’t get dislocated when you pour the custard in.
Pour the custard in the dish.
Decorate with almonds.
Refrigerate over night and Enjoy with your loved ones :)
